UPDATE: 12th July 2017

Oundle Food Bank is run by the Anglican, Baptist and Methodist churches working together.  It opens from 2pm to 3pm every Tuesday afternoon, in the Methodist Church in Drummingwell Lane.  Clients who are in a crisis situation and unable to afford to buy food are referred by agencies such as Job Centres, Social Services or Citizens Advice Bureaux.  Each client is given sufficient food for their family for at least three days.  Advice and prayer is offered where appropriate.

More volunteers are needed:

  • On Monday mornings, a strong person to help empty the food baskets at Co-op and Waitrose, take the contents (in the van from Oundle Carpet Weavers) to our parent food bank at Stamford for checking and sorting, and bring back replenishments for the cupboards at the Methodist Church.  Approximate time commitment: 0845-1030. Frequency: every two or three weeks on a rota.
  • On  Tuesdays - making tea and coffee, talking to clients, selecting and packing food.  Time commitment: 1345-1515. Frequency on the rota, once a month unless wishing to serve more frequently.
  • An individual to act as deputy co-ordinator, and possibly take over as co-ordinator in due course.  Time commitment will be flexible but will include attendance on some Tuesday afternoons, and may include visits to/meetings with referral agencies and training of volunteers.

If you are interested and would like to know more, speak to Val Wood at St Peter's or Alan Strange at Oundle Baptist, or contact David Hardwick: 01832 273567;
